Trabeculae or "cords" of frequently vacuolated eosinophilic cells are found in a myxoid background.

Chordoid menigiomas rarely occur in pure form and rather represent a feature in more aggressive (atypical or malignant) meningiomas. Therefore, presence of the chordoid morphological feature generally indicates a less favourable prognosis. They are WHO grade II.
